Emotional Health

At Freyja Health, we offer a calm, supportive space where you are heard and understood, recognising the close relationship between emotional wellbeing, lifestyle, and overall health.

Emotional experiences such as anxiety and low mood can exist along a spectrum and may be influenced by factors including stress, nutrition, sleep, and life circumstances. Our approach acknowledges this complexity.

Rather than aiming to eliminate difficult emotions, we focus on supporting you with evidence-informed strategies to build resilience, improve self-awareness, and better manage your responses over time.

At Freyja Health, we offer gentle, supportive care for mental and emotional wellbeing, recognising the close connection between the nervous system, lifestyle, physical health, and emotional resilience.

Our approach focuses on helping individuals manage experiences such as stress, anxiety, low mood, poor sleep, pain, and fatigue through evidence-informed, whole-person support. Care may include acupuncture, personalised nutrition and lifestyle guidance, food-as-medicine principles, practitioner-prescribed herbal or nutritional support, and relaxation practices such as breathwork, movement, and mindfulness.

Dr Miranda has also developed The Anxiety Relief Project, a short, online program designed to provide accessible, practical strategies that can be used at home or work to support nervous system regulation and emotional calm. The program focuses on building a greater sense of safety, ease, and self-awareness during periods of heightened stress or anxiety.

We recognise that mental health care is highly individual and, at times, best supported through a collaborative approach. Where appropriate, we work alongside and refer to trusted psychologists, counsellors, medical practitioners, and other mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.

An integrative approach using acupuncture, naturopathy, and nutrition may be considered to support individuals experiencing symptoms commonly associated with mental and emotional wellbeing concerns.

Areas that may be explored include:

  • Anxiety and low mood

  • Stress and nervous system load

  • Sleep disturbance

  • Fatigue and low energy

  • Stress-related hormonal patterns

  • Muscle tension, cramps, or spasms

  • Digestive discomfort

  • Thyroid-related health considerations

  • Nutrient processing patterns (such as pyrrole activity or MTHFR variants, where clinically relevant)

Care is personalised and focused on supporting overall wellbeing, working alongside medical assessment and treatment where appropriate.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is commonly used to support mental and emotional wellbeing, particularly during periods of stress. Many people experience a sense of calm, grounding, and deep relaxation during and after treatment.

By supporting nervous system regulation, acupuncture may help promote emotional balance and overall wellbeing as part of an integrative approach to care.

Naturopathy & Nutrition – Food and Mood

Nutrition plays an important role in mental and emotional wellbeing. What we eat can influence brain chemistry, gut health, and neurotransmitter function, and nutritional inadequacies may contribute to changes in mood, energy, and stress resilience for some individuals.

From a naturopathic and nutritional perspective, care focuses on identifying dietary patterns that may support emotional balance, alongside nutrients and foods that are commonly associated with nervous system and mood support. Responses to food are individual, and guidance is tailored accordingly.

Where appropriate, specific herbal or nutritional support may be considered, prescribed with careful attention to individual needs and potential interactions.

Dr Miranda’s background in nutritional biochemistry informs a considered, evidence-informed approach to food and mood, supporting informed, personalised care.

Test, don’t guess.
In some cases, further assessment may be considered to better understand nutritional, hormonal, or metabolic patterns, based on clinical presentation and individual needs.
