How our services can help you while pregnant:
Acupuncture
Pregnancy is such an important time to nurture and nourish, relax and rejuvenate, and be at your very best, body, mind and spirit. There is increasing evidence to suggest Acupuncture can help with the management of some common symptoms experienced during pregnancy such as aches & pains, nausea & vomiting.
Acupuncture may help in the management of stress, helping to calm you and release unwanted tension.
The First Trimester:
We find our beautiful parents-to-be love their regular acupuncture treatments, especially during the first trimester. Our treatments are designed to support you through those super important first stages of pregnancy to help alleviate common pregnancy synonyms such as morning sickness, digestive issues, constipation, diarrhea, leg cramps, sleep disorders, stress and anxiety.
Acupuncture increases blood flow to the uterus to help consolidate a successful pregnancy. Our patients also love our encouragement, education and ongoing support to help them navigate early pregnancy.
Acupuncture can be used to help nourish a healthy and calm pregnancy.
We recommend weekly acupuncture treatments during this first trimester until week 14.
The Second Trimester:
As your pregnancy evolves into the second trimester, it is time to relax and breathe a little more. If you are feeling fabulous (which of course is our wish) we suggest coming in for acupuncture treatments every 4 weeks for a tune up and just to check in to get your “acu feels”.
If you are not 100%, and experiencing symptoms (lets face it, pregnancy can be a metabolic, immune, hormonal & emotional nightmare), we would recommend continuing weekly or fortnightly treatments with our brilliant team. We can help in the management of
- Cramps and spasms
- Reflux, nausea, vomiting
- Constipation / diarrhea / hemorrhoids
- Cough, colds and flu
- Headaches / migraine
- Stress, anxiety, emotional imbalances, sleep
- Fatigue
- Back pain, carpal tunnel, oedema
The Third Trimester – Birth and Beyond
We love preparing our mama’s-to-be to welcome your little miracle earth-side.
Between weeks 34-36 is a lovely time to start preparing physically and emotionally for labour and birth. Weekly acupuncture sessions during this time may help prepare you for birth by relaxing your body and mind. These sessions will focus on your general health and well being, supporting energy, and helping to manage any stress you may be experiencing as the time draws near. Herbs and tea may accompany the acupuncture treatment.
If your birth is late or needing to come earlier due to medical reasons, Acupuncture can be used to encourage the natural process of the body. By using specific points Acupuncture can ripen the cervix and support the hormonal process to release oxytocin, to encourage a natural labour. It is beneficial to have weekly treatments leading up to your due date and we suggest you come in from week 37, ideally week 34. These treatments are relaxing and supportive, not only helping to prepare you physically but emotionally for the journey ahead.

Naturopathy & The Fourth Trimester
The first 40 days
Child birth naturally depletes our energy, qi or lifeforce which is why rest, nourishing foods and ample sleep is so important in the first 42 days
During the first 40 days following child birth, a baby does not realise it is separate from its mama. It is solely and completely reliant on its mama. This is why it is so essential to support the mama during this time and to ensure complete rest and ample time shared between mum and baby.
We can help support you through:
- Postnatal haemorrhage
- PND and Baby Blues
- Postnatal anxiety symptoms
- Postnatal thyroiditis and hypothyroid
- Post-partum hair loss
- Chronic sleep deprivation
- Nutritional deficiencies in the new mama have been linked with an increased risk of postnatal depression
